gindesigns revamped the Kolache Shoppe for the location’s 40th anniversary. The creative concept of a modern cottage transpired through various senses as new and old customers walk into the newly remodeled space. Visually, the modern cottage came to be through rich textures such as reclaimed wood in the custom display cases, wood-planked walls, restored mod lighting, white gooseneck sconces, pipe shelving and the period-appropriate glazed ceramic tile that surrounds the iconic window on the display wall. The friendly new look has a bright country feel with an arched window opening into the kitchen surrounded by custom rustic shelving and large custom bakery case created by Dumptruck Design. Framed glass menu boards mounted over traditional gray bead board walls display the daily selection behind the check out counter and coffee station. A new seating area is highlighted by the original mod lighting, and a new marble cafe ledge serves as a fresh and comfortable spot to enjoy the best kolaches in Houston.
